Taxonomy
Warthia saundersi was named by Yochelson (1960). Its type specimen is USNM 119952, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USNM728, Guadalupe Pass, Guadalupe Mountains, which is in a Roadian slope limestone in the Cherry Canyon Formation of Texas.
