Taxonomy
Ancyloceras tabarelli was named by Astier (1851). It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Acrioceras.

It was recombined as Acrioceras tabarelli by Hyatt (1900), Klinger and Kennedy (1992) and Cecca et al. (1998).
