Placenticeras kaffrarium was named by Etheridge (1904) [DISTRIBUTION: Turonian-Coniacian; Southern Africa, India.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Proplacenticeras kaffrarium by Kinger and Kennedy (1980).
