Taxonomy
Baculites neocomiensis was named by d'Orbigny (1842) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Cretaceous.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Bochianites.

It was recombined as Bochianites neocomiensis by Cantu-Chapa (1962), Reboulet (1996), Lukeneder (2004), Alsen (2006) and Klein et al. (2007).
