Taxonomy
Scaphites (Ammonites) nodosus was named by Owen (1852) [DISTRIBUTION: Campanian; Western Interior.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Acanthoscaphites nodosus by Russell and Landes (1937); it was recombined as Jeletzkytes nodosus by Riccardi (1983), Landman and Waage (1993), Kennedy and Cobban (1993) and Kennedy et al. (1997); it was recombined as Hoploscaphites nodosus by Landman et al. (2010).
