Taxonomy
Holcodiscus karapadensis was named by Kossmat (1897) [DIOSTRIBUTION: Campanian; southern Africa, India.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Karapadites.

It was recombined as Kossmaticeras (Karapadites) karapadensis by Kennedy and Klinger (1985).
