Taxonomy
Gastrioceras jacksoni was named by Etheridge (1907). It is a cast. Its type locality is Gnoolowa Hill, Irwin River Area, which is in a Sakmarian marine shale in the Holmwood Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Metalegoceras jacksoni by Miller (1932), Teichert (1942) and Teichert and Glenister (1952); it was recombined as Juresanites jacksoni by Glenister and Furnish (1961), Glenister et al. (1973) and Leonova (2002).
