Taxonomy
Onitshoceras matsumotoi was named by Reyment (1954) [DISTRIBUTION: Turonian; Western Africa.]. Its type specimen is BMNH U.2613, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is South of Awgu, which is in a Coniacian offshore shale in the Awgu Ndeaboh Shale Formation of Nigeria. It is the type species of Onitshoceras.
