Taxonomy
Omomys belgicus was named by Teilhard de Chardin (1927). Its type specimen is Ct.M. 64, a mandible (left mandible with P3, P4, and alveoli for I1, I2, C, and P2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dormaal, which is in a Ypresian fluvial sandstone in the Tienen Formation of Belgium.
It was recombined as Teilhardina belgica by Simpson (1940), Gingerich (1977) and Hooker (2007).
