Taxonomy
Hemiphragmoceras was named by Hyatt in Zittel (1900) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl]. It is the type genus of Hemiphragmoceratidae.

It was assigned to Hemiphragmoceratidae by Teichert et al. (1964); and to Oncoceratida by Sepkoski (2002).
