Taxonomy
Spirifera duodecimcostata was named by M'Coy (1847). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Muree (W.B. Clarke coll), which is in a Wordian marine siliciclastic in the Muree Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Spirifer duodecimcostatus by Dana (1849) and Armstrong (1968); it was recombined as Spiriferina duodecimcostata by Reed (1932); it was recombined as Spirifer duodecimcostata by Dickins et al. (1969); it was recombined as Spirifer duodecemcostatus by Clarke (1973); it was recombined as Glendonia duodecimcostata by McClung and Armstrong (1978), Waterhouse (1983) and Clarke (1987).
