Taxonomy
Ammonites mitis was named by Hauer (1866). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Gaudryceras mite by Summesberger (1979), Summesberger (1980), Courville and Odin (2001) and Cooper (2003); it was recombined as Gaudryceras (Gaudryceras) mite by Kennedy (1995); it was recombined as Gaudryceras (Gaudryceras) mitis by Kennedy (1994) and Kennedy et al. (2007).
