Taxonomy
Ammonites saxbii was named by Sharpe (1857) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenomanian; Europe, central Asia, southern Africa.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Mantelliceras saxbii by Förster (1975), Kennedy (1994), Kennedy et al. (2008), Mosavinia and Wilmsen (2011), Kennedy (2013), Sharifi et al. (2016) and El Qot (2018).
