Taxonomy
Ancyloceras bipunctatus was named by Schlüter (1872) [DISTRIBUTION: Campanian-Maastrichtian; Europe; central Asia.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Neancyloceras.

It was recombined as Neancyloceras bipunctatum by Kennedy (1986), Kennedy (1993), Kennedy and Summesberger (1999) and Kennedy and Summesberger (2001).
