Taxonomy
Ammonites deshayesi was named by d'Orbigny (1841). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bailly-aux-Forges (MNHN collection), which is in an Aptian marine shale in the Argiles à Plicatules Formation of France.

It was recombined as Deshayesites deshayesi by Stoyanow (1949), Aliev (1958), Renz (1982) and Bersac and Bert (2015).
