Crioceras joffrei was named by Boule et al. (1907) [DISTRIBUTION: Albian; southern Africa, Australia.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Myloceras joffrei by Förster (1975), Henderson (1990) and Klein et al. (2007).
