Ancyloceras cheyenensis was named by Meek and Hayden (1856) [DISTRIBUTION: Campanian; North America.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Turrilites cheyenensis by Meek and Hayden (1856); it was recombined as Helicoceras cheyenense by Meek and Hayden (1860); it was recombined as Didymoceras cheyennense by Zaborski (1985) and Kennedy and Cobban (1994); it was recombined as Didymoceras cheyenense by Kennedy et al. (2000).
