Bakevellia (Bakevellia) ceratophaga
Taxonomy
Mytulites keratophagus was named by von Schlotheim (1816). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Glücksbrunn, Thuringen, which is in a Wuchiapingian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks in the Zechstein Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Avicula keratophaga by Geinitz (1841) and Howse (1848); it was recombined as Bakevellia ceratophaga by King (1850), Ogilvie Gordon (1927), Trechmann (1945), Logan (1967), Zhang (1977), Fang (1987), Hautmann et al. (2015) and Foster et al. (2019); it was recombined as Gervillia ceratophaga by Howse (1857) and Geinitz (1861); it was recombined as Bakevellia (Bakevellia) ceratophaga by Pattison (1970) and Prinoth and Posenato (2023).
