Eosauropus was named by Lockley et al. (2006). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Eosauropus cimarronensis.
It was assigned to Sauropodomorpha by Lockley et al. (2006), Lucas et al. (2006) and Hunt and Lucas (2007); and to Sauropoda by Salisbury et al. (2016).

Pes elongate, oval, tetradactyl to pentadactyl, with long axis and prominent distal claw impressions outwardly rotated. Manus transverse, tetradactyl to pentadactyl with outwardly-rotated digit impressions and concave posterior margins. |
