Taxonomy
Neocomites stippi was named by Anderson (1938) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Cretaceous; Pacific Coast, North America.]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS loc. 144, McCarty (=McCarthy) Creek, which is in a Valanginian marine horizon in California.

It was recombined as Thurmanniceras stippi by Imlay (1960) and Imlay and Jones (1970).
