Taxonomy
Lophospira augustina minnesotensis was named by Ulrich and Scofield (1897) [Lophospira augustina var. minnesotensis]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Lophospira angustina by Wilson (1951); it was recombined as Lophospira minnesotensis by Sloan (1987); it was recombined as Hormotoma minnesotensis by Wagner (2023).
