Olcostephanus latissimus was named by Neumayr and Uhlig (1881) [DISTRIBUTION: Valanginian; Europe, Greenland.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Euryptychites.
It was recombined as Euryptychites latissimus by Jeletzky and Kemper (1988); it was recombined as Polyptychites (Euryptychites) latissimus by Alsen (2006).
