Ammonites propinquus was named by Stolickza (1863) [DISTRIBUTION: Albian; India.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Schloenbachia propinquus by Anderson (1902); it was recombined as Goodhallites propinquus by Henderson and Kennedy (2002).
