Chama conica was named by Sowerby (1813). It is a 3D body fossil.
It was synonymized subjectively with Laevigyra luynesi by Malchus (1990); it was recombined as Amphidonte conica by Stilwell (1998); it was recombined as Exogyra conica by Dartevelle and Freneix (1957), Sowerby (1962) and Mendir et al. (2021).
