Taxonomy
Neodomatoceras was named by Ruzhentsev and Shimanskiy (1954) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-l Sepkoski's reference number: 524]. Its type is Neodomatoceras rarum.

It was assigned to Nautilida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Domatoceratidae by Ruzhentsev and Shimanskiy (1954) and Barskov et al. (2014).
