Taxonomy
Nostoceras attenuatum was named by Brunnschweiler (1966) [DISTRIBUTION: Maastrichtian; Australia.]. Its type specimen is CPC 2628, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Giralia Anticline (Brunnschweiler collection, Korojon Calcarenite), which is in a Maastrichtian carbonate limestone in the Korojon Formation of Australia.

It was recombined as Nostoceras (Nostoceras) attenuatum by Henderson et al. (1992); it was recombined as Nostoceras (Didymoceras) attenuatum by Küchler and Odin (2001).
