Texanites angolanus was named by Haas (1942) [DISTRIBUTION: Turonian-Coniacian; Angola.]. Its type specimen is AMNH 25193, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Loc. 3095, Cabiri (Santonian), which is in a Santonian marine horizon in Angola.
