Pseudocenoceras was named by Spath (1927) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith-u K Maes-l Sepkoski's reference number: 524].

It was reranked as Angulithes (Pseudocenoceras) by Wiedmann (1960).

It was assigned to Angulithes by Wiedmann (1960); to Nautilidae by Teichert et al. (1964) and Shimansky (1975); and to Nautilida by Sepkoski (2002).
