Hoplites teschenensis was named by Uhlig (1902). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Neocomites teschenensis by Sayn (1907), Reboulet (1996) and Lukeneder (2004); it was recombined as Neocomites (Eristavites) teschenensis by Klein (2005).
