Taxonomy
Tabulophyllum mutabile was named by Sorauf (1998). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Shell Rock River, upper Mason City Member, which is in a Frasnian shallow subtidal limestone in the Shell Rock Formation of Iowa.
