M. Collignon 1962 | This Ammonite was described and figured in 1937. R. Casey pointed out (Ammonoidea of the Lower Greensand. 1961. II, p. 100) that it could not be related to Protanisoceras Spath. Indeed, it presents two particular characteristics: the existence of thick main ribs with 3 tubercles separated by around ten very fine and simple interlayers, and a partition with a first trifid lateral lobe, second lateral lobe of the same shape and very internal lobe. spread out. The affinities of this Ammonite are difficult to establish: I will soon publish in the "Albian" Fascicle a new very particular genre with ornamentation identical to that which has just been described, but with a single lateral lobe partition descending, in my opinion, from Hamulina of Orb. It is possible that Epanisoceras belongs to a lateral branch descending from similar Barremian forms. Upper Aptian. Area with Aconeceras Nisus and Melchiorites Melchioris. Deposit 245.
