Trichristolopus was named by Ellenberger (1970). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Trichristolopus dubius.

| P. Ellenberger 1972 | C'est autant dans la forme particulière de ses pieds que par leur déplacement au sol à la marche que le genre Trichristolopus trouve sa définition. Le pied, tridactyle de fait, a légèrement pivoté à la marche (comme pour Rotadactylopus), A l'arrêt on remarque une pulpe digitale aux phalanges et aux-ârticulations peu distinctes; les trois doigts sont pour ainsi dire parallèles et précédés de griffes sans doute crochues et dont seule la pointe a touché le sol. A la "nage”? les griffes ont balafré le sol. A l'arrière du pied les doigts se termInent en une sorte de rectangle qui représente une large articulation avec les métapodes, La construction du pied paraît assez primitive, et fait supposer une certaine divarication des métatarses. |
