Anatrisauropus ginsburgi was named by Ellenberger (1970). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Maphutseng I tracksite (zone A/2), which is in a Norian terrestrial sandstone in the Elliot Formation of Lesotho. It is the type species of Anatrisauropus.

P. Ellenberger 1972Aux données generiques exposées ci-dessus, A. ginsburgi se caractérise en plus par les données suivantes:
- PES: Longueur du pied, 220 mm (du doigt l, ? mm; de II, 110 mm environ; de Ill, 130 mm ; de IV, 150 mm avec le bourrelet d'articulation des métapodes; projection de III en avant du bout des doigts latéraux, 80 mm). Largeur du pied entre l'extrémité des doigts latéraux, 175 mm. Divarication totale Il-IV , 63° (Il-Ill, 15° ; Ill-IV , 48°). Les coussinets de phalanges sont difficiles à percevoir dans la sole pédieuse élée. L'arrière du pied montre un petit "talon" écourté semblant résulter de la marque au sol des articulations fort rapprochées les unes des autres des métapodes II et surtout III et IV. Les ongles de Il et IV forment entre eux un angle de divarication atteignant 160°.
- MANUS: La main est inconnue; l'animal étant bipède.
- PISTE: Enjambée, 2,48 m ou (Pas = 1,24 ml, Ped angulatio, 5° â 10°,
Ecartement, 0,15 m ? : la démarche paraît assez rectiligne.
