Batrachopodiscus tsanatalani was named by Ellenberger (1970). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Likhoele tracksite (zone A/3), which is in a Carnian/Norian terrestrial sandstone in the Molteno Formation of Lesotho. It is the type species of Batrachopodiscus.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Klein and Lucas (2021).

P. Ellenberger 1972Nombreuses traces de pes et de manus, paraîssant de nature très homologue, tous de petite taille. Les 5 doigts de longueur presque égale forment un éventail léger. Ces doigts dessinent des crochets ou des "V" au déplacement.
- PES: Longueur du pied, 6 à 10 mm (du doigt I, 4 à 8 mm; de II, 5 à 9 mm; de III, 6 à l0 mm; de V, 5 à 9 mm; projection de III en avant du bout des doigts latéraux, 1 à 2 mm). Largeur du pied entre l'extrémité des doigts latéraux, 6 à 11 mm. Divarication totale I-V, 40°, I-II, 10° (II-III, 10°; III-IV, 10°, IV-V, 10°). Les coussinets de phalanges sont mal discernables. L'arrière du pied n'a jamais marqué le sol. Un "talon" n'apparaît nulle part.
- MANUS: Même caractères apparents que pour le pied (pes).
- PISTE: Enjambée, 0,05 à 0,08 m (Pas = 0,025 m à 0,04 m), Ped. angulatio, ?. Manus angulatio: ?. Ecartement, 0,03 m à 0,04 m; la démarche apparaît typique de celle de petits amphibiens dans une mare.
