Taxonomy
Linyphia was named by Latreille (1804). It is extant. It is the type genus of Linyphiidae.

It was assigned to Theridides by Scudder (1890); and to Linyphiidae by Petrunkevitch (1922), Dunlop et al. (2013) and Wheeler et al. (2017).
