Barrandeocerida was named by Flower and Kummel (1950) [this is the publication in which Barrandeoceratida was first named. The authority proper is Flower 1950
]. It is not extant.
It was reranked as the suborder Barrandeocerina by Shevyrev (2006).
It was assigned to Nautiloidea by Teichert et al. (1964), Crick (1981) and Chen et al. (1981); to Basslerocerida by Shevyrev (2006); and to Cephalopoda by Sepkoski (2002) and Kröger (2013).
It was reranked as the suborder Barrandeocerina by Shevyrev (2006).
