Taxonomy
Lytoceras argonautarum was named by Anderson (1902). It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Argonauticeras, Lytoceras (Argonauticeras).

It was recombined as Lytoceras (Argonauticeras) argonautarum by Anderson (1938); it was recombined as Argonauticeras argonautarum by Wright et al. (1996).
