Taxonomy
Diplectrona was named by Westwood (1840). It is extant. It is the type genus of Diplectroninae.

It was assigned to Diplectroninae by Geraci et al. (2005); and to Hydropsychidae by Carpenter (1992) and Wichard et al. (2009).
