Taxonomy
Carinoceras was named by Ljaschenko (1957) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fras-m D Fras-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302,457]. It is not extant. Its type is Carinoceras menneri.

It was assigned to Gephuroceratidae by Yatskov (1990); to Anarcestida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Virginoceratinae by Korn and Klug (2002) and Korn (2006).
