Taxonomy
Rostranteris ptychiventria was named by Xu and Grant (1994). Its type specimen is USNM 456201, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Xikou Section, Zhen'an County, which is in a Changhsingian marine horizon in the Longdongchuan Formation of China.
