Fasciculoceras was named by Bogoslovsky (1969) [Sepkoski's age data: D Eife-l D Eife-u Sepkoski's reference number: 457]. Its type is Fasciculoceras uralense.

It was assigned to Anarcestida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Palaeogoniatitinae by Korn and Klug (2002) and Korn (2006).
