Taxonomy
Palaeocursornis was named by Kessler and Jurcsák (1986) [nomen nudum in Jurcsák and Kessler 1985 (p. 138), validated by Kessler and Jurcsák 1986]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Palaeocursornithidae by Bock and Bühler (1996); to Ornithurae by Hope (2002); and to Pterosauria by Agnolin and Varricchio (2012).
