Taxonomy
Neomanticoceras was named by Schindewolf (1936) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fras-m Sepkoski's reference number: 1042]. It is not extant. Its type is Manticoceras paradoxum.

It was assigned to Gephuroceratidae by Yatskov (1990); to Anarcestida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Virginoceratinae by Korn and Klug (2002) and Korn (2006).
