Taxonomy
Costatispirifer gracilis was named by Archbold and Thomas (1985). Its type specimen is CPC 24309, a valve (Dorsal valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is BMR KLD64, Shore Range, which is in a Roadian coastal siliciclastic in the Lightjack Formation of Australia. It is the type species of Costatispirifer.
