Talenticeras was named by Erben (1965) [Sepkoski's age data: D Emsi-l Sepkoski's reference number: 457]. It is not extant. Its type is Talenticeras talenti.

It was assigned to Anarcestida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Mimosphinctinae by Korn and Klug (2002) and Korn (2006).
