Cteroclymenia was named by Bogoslovsky (1979) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fame-m Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Clymeniida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Rectoclymeniidae by Korn (2006).
