Taxonomy
Cypraea retusa was named by Sowerby (1823). It is extant. Its type locality is L'Aquila, Monti d'Ocre area, which is in a Cenomanian shallow subtidal rudstone in Italy.
It was recombined as Trivia (Trivia) retusa by Schilder (1941); it was recombined as Trivia retusa by Wood (1842), Harmer et al. (1925) and Bouchet and Gofas (2011).
