Taxonomy
Anthracosycon auriforme was named by Finks (1960). Its type specimen is USNM 127621 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 6938, Black John Canyon, Sierra Diablo, which is in a Kungurian shallow subtidal limestone in the Bone Spring Formation of Texas.
