Eocomoseris raueni was named by Löser (1993). Its type specimen is RE 551.763.31 A 1323/21 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Steinbruch Rauen, Kassenberg Quarry, Mülheim/Ruhr, which is in a Cenomanian shallow subtidal limestone in Germany.
