It was reranked as the unranked clade Pteriomorpha by Mikkelsen and Bieler (2008) and Bouchet et al. (2010).

It was assigned to Autolamellibranchiata by Mikkelsen and Bieler (2008); to Autobranchia by Bouchet et al. (2010); and to Bivalvia by Beurlan (1944), Squires (1984), Squires (1987) and Squires (2010).
